Back to Halloween!

We started out Halloween festivities at the library kid fest.  It was lots of fun and I look forward to going to the next one.  The big one dressed as a devil.  (Once again, I nailed the makeup, but you cant see it from the photo) The little one was batman.  They had fun games and crafts. The kids loved it!

Next event?  Pumpkin patch of course!  A lot of rain led to a lot of the pumpkins rotting this year.  We got a few pumpkins, after deciding between round, tall, deformed, bumpy, stemmed, standing quality, etc.  🙂  The big one has a super special connection to this pumpkin patch because he helped the church unload them!  We’ll be carving them soon, stay tuned for that fun!

2yr Birthday Party

Fresh Beat Band! 

Just to let everyone know, there is NOTHING available in stores for the fresh beat band.  Nowhere.  I had to make everything by hand.  Stickers, printouts, markers, and foam foam foam!!!

Fresh Beat Band cake pops!

Cake pop maker + white chocolate + neon nonpareils + floral green foam + cut pieces of glitter foam = success!

The first batch of cake pops I’d made were cooling off in a bowl.  Little man and his friend decided to try and snag one, accidentally knocking the (glass) bowl over onto the floor, shattering it, and rendering the cakepops trash!  These took a LONG time!  (and two tries) 

Decor!  Shapes, music notes, guitars, signs, all hand drawn and made from foam.  Foam saved my life for this party. 

But it was all worth it, because he LOVED it!

Hello Halloween!  One of my favorite times of the year!  Yes, I realize my costume was less than elaborate, but I was too preoccupied most of October to focus on it. 

This is my oldest.  Isn’t he precious?  He elected to be a zombie, because mom is amazing at doing zombie makeup.  I may have missed my calling.  Although I don’t recall “zombie makeup artist” being an option from my high school’s career specialist. 

WHAT??? That isn’t Halloween!!!  No, certainly not, this is a picture (the only one) of my cousin’s Bachelorette Party!  Notice the orange slice Jello Shots!  Made by yours truly!  We began the evening by painting wine glasses to commemorate the event!  It got more fun from there, but all that is a secret I can’t share. 

 

One of my worst days

I decided to take Merik to Chuck-E-Cheese as a reward for doing so well in school.  Half way there, I call my family in FL.  A woman I don’t know answers the phone to tell me something bad has happened to my brother.  Without going into details, I lost my brother that day, October 12, 2012.  He was 20 years old.  His life was stolen from him, and I struggle every day of my life to let go of the hatred I hold for those I feel responsible.
